Michael Duderstadt named SEC Swimmer of the Week

Michael Duderstadt, a junior swimmer from Panama City, Florida, has been announced as SEC Swimmer of the Week after putting forth a strong showing in the upset of the 3rd-ranked Florida Gators last Saturday, Jan. 23.

Duderstadt was able to sweep the breaststroke events including the 100 breaststroke, which he won by a full two seconds, finishing with a time of 1:04.44. He also won the 200 breaststroke by over half a second.

The Florida native started his day by swimming the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay with a 28.89 split, which was the second-best split in the event. He later swam the third leg of the second-place 400 free relay which ended up securing the upset for the Tigers.

These wins make it so that Duderstadt has won the 200 breaststroke at two meets and the 100 breaststroke at four meets.

Duderstadt will be back in action on Friday as Auburn plays host to Wisconsin and Florida State in the final dual meet of the season.
