Auburn’s leading scorer will depart for the NBA after just one season on the Plains.
Redshirt junior Kareem Canty declared for the NBA Draft on Twitter and Instagram on Thursday night, signaling a near end to a tumultuous time at Auburn.

In his Instagram post, Canty said he will “part ways” with Auburn.
He is currently serving an indefinite suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, and it is possible he will not return this season.
The Harlem, New York, native transferred to Auburn from Marshall after his freshman season.
In his 21 games this season, he led Auburn with 18.3 points and 5.3 assists per game.
Junior Tahj Shamsid-Deen is the only scholarship point guard slated to return next season, and his career could be in jeopardy due to recurrent shoulder injuries.
The Tigers do have a player in the 2016 recruiting class who could help fill the void left by Canty.
Jared Harper, a four-star point guard from Atlanta, signed with Auburn on Nov. 19.
The Auburn Plainsman has attempted to reach out to Auburn Athletics for comment.
