Auburn cornerback Blake Countess drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles

Another Tiger is off the board.

With the 196th overall pick, the Philadelphia Eagles have selected Auburn cornerback Blake Countess, making him the third Tiger selected in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Countess transferred to Auburn last season after graduating from University of Michigan. The Maryland native played one season with the Tigers, recording 71 tackles and two interceptions.

The Auburn defensive back was not invited to the NFL Combine but put up numbers that would rival anyone in the nation during Auburn’s Pro Day. Countess recorded 21 repetitions on the bench press, which would’ve been ranked first at the Combine and was higher than numerous Auburn linemen. On top of the impressive bench numbers, he ran a 4.49 40-yard dash and had 36.5-inch vertical.

Plans to finish his degree are already in the works as he intends to take 15 credit hours over the next year en route to graduation.
