Maria Baugh, Auburn alumna and executive managing editor of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen magazine, is set to speak at fall 2017 graduation on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Approximately 1,599 Auburn students will receive degrees at this semester's commencement ceremonies.
Baugh's appearance was announced in a University statement.

"Baugh will speak at a 10 a.m. ceremony for the College of Architecture, Design and Construction; Samuel Ginn College of Engineering; School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences; College of Liberal Arts; and College of Sciences and Mathematics. She will speak again at a 2 p.m. ceremony for the College of Agriculture; Raymond J. Harbert College of Business; College of Education; College of Human Sciences; School of Nursing; and University College.

Baugh is a two-time graduate of Auburn, earning a bachelor's degree in pre-law in 1985 and a second bachelor's degree in journalism in 1987. She has held her current position at Hearst Corporation since February 2016.
Previously, Baugh was managing editor of Food Network Magazine, also at Hearst, executive managing editor of Glamour magazine and managing editor of House & Garden. Before that, she spent three years as executive editor of In Style. She came to In Style after becoming executive editor at Teen People, having joined Teen People's launch team in 1997 as deputy editor. One of the fastest growing startups in magazine history, Teen People was awarded the National Magazine Award for General Excellence in 2001.
She started her career as a reporter at the Covington News in Covington, Georgia, and in 1988 moved to New York where she got her first magazine job. Baugh and her spouse Liz Zale live in New York City with their dog, Lucky.
Auburn will award 116 doctoral degrees, 342 master's degree, nine educational specialist degrees, one pharmacy degree and 1,131 bachelor's degrees. The bachelor's degrees by college and school are: Raymond J. College of Business, 272; College of Liberal Arts, 220; Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, 177; College of Sciences and Mathematics, 115; College of Education, 99; College of Architecture, Design and Construction, 76; College of Agriculture, 66; College of Human Sciences, 63; University College, 26; and School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, 17."
