Police charge four people with East Longleaf vehicle burglaries

The Auburn Police Division arrested four Opelika residents on Wednesday in connection with a string of auto burglaries at apartment complexes near East Longleaf Drive, police said Thursday.

Police arrested Michelle L. Nelson, 24; Alexis V. Herron, 24; Stephen A. Delaney, 21; and Elijah O. Beaulieu, 20, all from Opelika, charging them each with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and fourth-degree theft of property.

The arrests were made after an investigation into auto burglaries that were reported on Tuesday.

Beaulieu was also charged with marijuana possession in the second degree.

Three of the suspects were stopped by an officer on South College Street after police received a suspicious person call. Officers recovered stolen property in the vehicle, which all together was valued at over $200, police said.

A search of the suspect's residence resulted in the fourth suspect being located. Ammunitions, electronics, purses and U.S. currency reported stolen from other vehicles in the area was also recovered at the home.

All four suspects are being held in the Lee County Jail. Nelson, Herron and Delaney are being held on $4,000 bonds while Beaulieu is being held on a $5,000 bond, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
