There are bats all around Auburn’s campus. They’re underneath Jordan-Hare Stadium, surrounding Dudley Hall and nestled around the Red Barn. The bats have been around for a long time and have spread around campus from Samford Hall.

A person must eat in order to live, and with the many options presented in the world, it is easy to put their body’s health at risk. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, some people choose to make certain eating changes that they believe to be beneficial such as cutting out certain foods or only eating foods prepared in a particular way. Regardless, the inspiration of dietary change could be based on fads.

Earlier this month, a lone lorry driver took the lives of 84 people on Bastille Day in Paris, France, which celebrates the unification of the French people and the Storming of Bastille that kick started the French Revolution. Only a few weeks earlier, over 200 people were killed in Baghdad, Iraq in a suicide bombing in a marketplace café during the last days of the holy month of Ramadan.

On Wednesday, June 29, a black bear meandered down the
streets in Opelika near the downtown area. The young male black bear —
according to Mark Smith, extension specialist and associate professor of Auburn
University’s School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences — was tranquilized and
captured with the help of forestry and wildlife sciences faculty.

On June 12, 2016, 49 people lost their lives to an armed
gunman that entered Pulse Orlando, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Omar Mateen entered
the crowded club and started to shoot, creating chaos within the building.

Protesters lined the streets in front of the Auburn Police Division on Saturday, June 11 to demand justice for Melissa Boarts and Recco Cobb. Melissa was shot by the police and protestors say the police denied Recco treatment after he was shot at a nightclub. Both incidents happened in April of this year.

This Friday, June 10, the City of Auburn will be celebrating its 10th annual Summer Night Downtown Art Walk from 6–10 p.m. This
year’s event includes interactive attractions such as an opening parade where
all can attend and be a part of, a cookie baking contest and vending or booth
opportunities to sell products.
