Good shoes take you good places. That’s easy. Picking out that good shoe is not so much. Too often a trip to the shoe department can be daunting and terrifying. The shoe racks tower over you threateningly and the price tags can be even ruder. But this spring is different. Fashion Week welcomed all patterns, colors, prints and materials, taking a no holds barred approach to spring footwear. Here are some of the latest trends in feet fashion. The Wedge - The spring season staple is easily the wedge. And thank God for it. The support offered by a wedge is unmatched in the shoe department. This heel saves you from the stiletto-induced embarrassment of a Bambi inspired “catwalk” down Magnolia. The wedge doesn’t need to reinvent itself to renew its lease in your closet. Its basic structure stays the same, but this season it’s debuting new fabrics and bases for the heel. The espadrille is returning and bringing with it wooden wedges and wedges hidden in the same fabric as the top to create a seamless, tailored look. The Flat - First it was blazers, then the boyfriend jean and now our feet want in on this androgynous trend. Further proving just how cyclical fashion is (everyone has a picture of themselves running around in their father's oversized loafers), this spring flat is the loafer. Loafers blend a masculine structure with feminine patterns and have quickly become this year’s favorite trend in flats.Swap out your ballet flats for the strong meets-comfortable shoe and save yourself from a night of toe pinching pumps followed by a morning of bandages and reshaping your foot. This look is versatile and can be dressed up for the office, dressed down for the day or paired with a dress for a night out.The Sandal - Gone are the gaudy gladiators that took forever to strap into and created some of the world’s worst tan lines. Seriously, by September my feet had an unintentional zebra henna tattoo that started at my feet and ended mid-calf. It’s been seasons in the making, but finally the sandal is taking a simple, minimalist approach. This season, pick up simple structures with bold colors for your sandal collection. The Sneaker - This spring sneakers are stealing the spotlight with mismatched neons and even brighter patterns. Sneakers are mixing loud prints with metallic colors on unusual models. Stores are stocked with pastels, all white, patterned, striped and usually a combination of the aforementioned styles. The plethora of options makes the sneaker my favorite piece this spring because you can’t go wrong. And don’t ya just hate being wrong?

I can't count how many times I've turned to my roommate, after a day of nothing but couch surfing, and said, in all seriousness, "how can we get paid to watch TV?" With my college graduation looming in the not-so-distant future, this question becomes more pressing. Monster search engine yielded nothing to "get paid while watching TV from the comfort of your home...or a friend's home, I'm flexible." Shocking, I know. I was fully prepared to weed through the results. I was beginning to lose hope when I found a light at the end of the tunnel. Or, less dramatically, my boss introduced me Viggle.

Wickedly delicious pickles. Well, wickedly delicious pickles, okra, relish, pepper rings and pepper strips, to be exact.

It's been a full eight days after the break of the Manti Te'o story. Through the magic of smart phones, the Internet and the many other devices that bring the news to our fingertips, we've all had a chance to pore over the Te'o hoax, laugh at the expense of the South Bend Tribune and blame every news organization imaginable.

Chin up, Auburn. It’s not all that bad. I think some of you have forgotten how good we’ve had it this semester. Of course I preferred watching the games of our undefeated season, but acting as though this season has had no winning moments is just crazy.Maybe it’s just because I’m a “glass half-full” kind of person, and I have to say I don’t know how any of you are getting through these games without your glass half full, but I just can’t help but see the perks of going 1–7.Here are some great benefits of a losing season that are sure to distract you from whatever disaster is happening on the field.1) Cheaper downtownNo cover charge at 1716 on Saturdays. Does anyone else remember when some bars downtown dared to charge $10 cover during our undefeated season? With each loss, we get closer and closer to the downtown bars paying us to come and drink. Sky, we lost to Vanderbilt. It’s time to extend that great 7–9 p.m. free stamp policy to Saturday nights.2) Pad your resumeSkimpy resume? No worries! After this season, we can all list National Wildlife Federation under volunteer experience with all the work we are doing to save Toomer’s Oaks by not rolling them this year. I knew Auburn was a university rooted in service, but man are we taking things to the next level. Way to go, guys!3) Educational advantagesWhen I convinced my parents to pay tens of thousands of dollars on my college education, my biggest selling point was what a well-rounded experience I would have. And I was right! Poor Bammers; they have no idea what a loss is. I didn’t think it was possible to add to the list of educational experiences Auburn has over Alabama, but then again I should never underestimate Auburn!4) Better hospitalityTry and name somebody who doesn’t like the visiting team when they’ve lost? Not possible. Everybody loves a visiting team who loses. It’s awesome when people come to your campus and lose! What top-notch experiences I have had in both Oxford and Nashville. While a loss to arguably the weakest SEC football teams is tough, the wonderful hospitality we’re treated to is a nice silver lining. I mean just think, if we keep this up people will be paying us to show up!5) Valid excuse to leave earlyThank you, Spirit; no one has been as bold as you. We’re all guilty of leaving earlier and earlier with every added loss. Most of us try to stick it out until at least halftime, but even that is becoming an impossible task. Spirit, you changed all that. At a record zero minutes into the game, Spirit left Jordan-Hare. What a solid argument you’ve made for those of us hoping to leave early, but who are tied down to friends waiting to see a comeback. Who is going to say we have to stay seated freezing in the stands when the spirit of Jordan-Hare was gone before the game even started? So relax, Tigers. We’ll be back on our feet again. In the meantime, use these tips as ways to distract yourself until the season’s over and we can give all our attention to Auburn basketball... Or until I can get back to you on perks for that season too.
