Auburn students, faculty and staff can expect a complete return to campus for the fall 2021 semester after the University aimed to offer 70% of classes in person during spring 2021. The University announced in a campus-wide email on Wednesday morning that it is planning a "full in-person, on-campus academic and student life experience" for the fall.

Tim Vines, the president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, has been confirmed to serve on the Auburn University Board of Trustees as an at-large senator. The Alabama Senate unanimously confirmed Vines to the position on Thursday to replace the seat of Lloyd Austin, who was confirmed as the 28th U.S. Secretary of Defense on Jan. 22 after a nomination from President Joe Biden in December.

Auburn students will soon be riding to and from campus with added comfort and convenience. The University's Tiger Transit system is set to receive a facelift in the form of an entirely new fleet of buses slated to arrive on The Plains beginning at the end of May.

In the wee hours of the morning, those early enough to Auburn's campus may catch a glimpse of the line of food trucks entering the University's concourses, preparing for another day of hungry customers galore. Though they number many, only The 'Dam Food Truck claims the title of Plainsman's Choice for best food truck, going four for four with the award in 2018, 2019, 2020 and now 2021.

Just over 10 years ago, the Southern live oaks at Toomer's Corner were poisoned and a decades-old Auburn icon that students, faculty, alumni and fans had known and loved was no more. Leslie Goertzen, associate professor in the department of biological sciences, said he was particularly stricken with grief because of his background in botany and plant evolutionary biology.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced its first set of guidelines for fully vaccinated people on Monday, March 8, permitting some relaxing of safety protocols. Auburn University, however, said it will maintain its current indoor and outdoor mask and physical distancing guidelines, according to a campus-wide email sent Wednesday afternoon.
