Women's basketball suffers worst defeat of the season at Tennessee

After knocking off No. 7 Kentucky at home last Sunday, Auburn lost its second consecutive SEC road game to a top-15 team.

Auburn suffered its worst loss of the year to Tennessee on Sunday, falling 79-52.

Auburn was on the wrong end of a 17-4 run, which increased Tennessee's lead to 15 going into the half.

The Lady Vols shot a staggering 59.6 percent from the field, after shooting nearly 30 percent the night before.

Tra'Cee Tanner was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 12 points. Brandy Montgomery had 11, and Janiah McKay finished with 10.

Tennessee's Diamond DeShields led the opposing effort with 25 points, while teammates Bashaara Graves and Mercedes Russell had 18 and 10, respectively.

Auburn will play host to Alabama on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m.
