Auburn men's golf coach Nick Clinard announed the signing of a top 100 listed World Amateur golfer Thursday. Jovan Rebula has signed a national letter of intent to attend Auburn University and play for the men’s golf team in 2016-17.
Rebula, from George, West Cape, South Africa, won the Western Province Amateur at Clovelly Country Club in Cape Town at the end of April. He won the Eastern Province Stroke Play Championship in early April after finishing runner-up in both the Southern Cape Open in February and the South African Amateur in 2015.
“First of all, Jovan comes from an outstanding family with a great pedigree of golf as well,” said Clinard. “Anytime you can get a young man with his integrity and his ability with his amateur accomplishments and a top 100 world ranking, that is great.”
Rebula, the No. 1 ranked amateur in South Africa, joins Guntersville’s Reagan Harrell, the No. 2 golf recruit in the state of Alabama for 2016, who signed with the Tigers in November.
