Construction worker injured after fall on campus

A construction worker was rushed to the hospital after falling about 15 feet from scaffolding at a construction site at the Auburn University Marching Band practice complex, according to the University Office of Communications and Marketing.

The construction worker with Whatley Construction, a 65-year-old from Opelika, suffered injuries to his head and back, according to police. The construction site is in the 300 block of Beech Street on campus.

Emergency workers responded to the call at approximately 1:35 p.m. Paramedics treated him on the scene. Police said he was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center by ambulance.

He is in stable condition, police said.
