Freshman Laney Joyner was granted her release from the Auburn softball program, confirmed by head coach Clint Myers on Friday.
Joyner amassed 65 home runs in her high school career, pegging her as a top prospect for the Tigers. The Woodstock, Ga. native was expected to receive ample playing team in the coming seasons with the loss of third baseman Kasey Cooper and shortstop Haley Fagan. Joyner received most of her practice time at third base, as she redshirted her freshman season.
Joyner was granted release with the intent to transfer, claiming that “a handful of schools are interested.”
Auburn graduates three seniors aside from Cooper and Fagan, including outfielder Sydne Waldrop, designated player Jenna Abbott and outfielder Madi Gipson.
