The Auburn-Opelika Tourism Bureau has added a new staff position to handle sports and event development.
Anthony Terling, the new manager, will market the Auburn-Opelika area as a sporting event destination and will focus on getting the word out about upcoming outdoor events.
"The growth in the Auburn-Opelika area and the continued increase in visitor spending has afforded us the opportunity to create this much-needed position,” said John Wild, AOTB president.
Terling will implement a new volunteer program for larger events in the area like SummerNight Art Walk, On the Tracks and Bo Bikes Bama.
“Anthony’s experience and expertise will be an asset in attracting and developing new sporting events and tournaments for our community which already features the facilities and resources necessary for success in this market segment.”
He graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2009 and went on to get his masters in sports management. He served as the vice president of external affairs for Alabama Sports Festival Foundation.
