Boda Getta BBQ competition to be held March 4–5

The smell of backyard BBQ will fill the air this weekend as the Boda Getta BBQ competition kicks off on Friday.

On March 4–5 professional barbecue teams from across the Southeast will come together at University Station RV Resort in their decked-out cooking rigs to compete for $12,500 in cash.

The event will also include an area for kids and fun run for kids Saturday morning.

"We've got around 30 professional teams coming from all over country, as well as 15–20 amateur teams or as we call them backyard barbecue teams," said Mathan Holt, owner of University Station RV Resort. "These teams will be putting out the best barbecue and barbecue recipes you have ever seen."

Holt said the quality of the barbecue found at Boda Getta BBQ is unlike any other.

"If you've never tasted the barbecue that comes from these professional teams, you don't know what you are missing," Holt said. "It is the best barbecue you will ever put in your mouth."

There will also be a competition for “Best Tailgater in Auburn.” The winner will receive a oversized trophy and will have their team’s name announced at Auburn’s first home football game next season.

There will be live music, food and various vendors at Boda Getta BBQ.

This year’s Boda Getta BBQ is presented by the Auburn Rotary Club.

The Auburn Rotary Club represents a diverse group of professional leaders, both currently employed and retired. These men and women work to address local and international service needs.
