UPDATE: Man killed by train Saturday morning identified as Auburn student

The man who was struck and killed by a train early Saturday morning was identified by Lee County Coroner Bill Harris as Dakota Raymond Parker, 19. He was from Decatur and was a freshman in business.

Authorities responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a train near the railroad crossing at the 200 block of North College Street. Parker was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:45 a.m., according to Harris. 

Parker was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.

The case is being investigated as an accident, according to a release issued by the Auburn Police Division and is under investigation by APD, the Lee County Coroner and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
