A spirit that is not afraid

Miss Homecoming voting will be open until midnight

Plainsman Polling's voting services were down for maintenance on Friday, Sept. 30, on the last day of 2016 Miss Homecoming campaigns. Students will have until midnight tonight to cast their votes.

If a student voted on the system this morning before Plainsman Polling went down, he or she will need to recast their vote on the new system available on the My Campus tab of AUAccess.

SGA President Jesse Westerhouse sent an email to students this afternoon explaining the technical issues:

"The online voting system for the Miss Homecoming election was not successful this morning. A new system is now live on the AU Access My Campus tab. The limited amount of students that successfully voted on this morning's system will be required to vote again as we must ensure no student is allowed to vote more than once. Voting will last until midnight tonight, Sept. 30."

SGA tweeted the solution to the technical issues at 1:13 p.m.

"Miss Homecoming voting will be on the AU Access My Campus tab and will be live from 1:30pm until midnight tonight."

SGA took to their Twitter to address the issue at 10 a.m. when the page went down. Read the series of tweets below.

"OIT is still working to resolve their server issues causing the slow speed and difficulties voting for Miss Homecoming.

We continue to wait on OIT to resolve voting difficulties and will be evaluating the need to extend the length of voting day as necessary.

We are working on a solution with OIT now.

We will provide details about the timeline for voting day shortly to ensure all students have plenty of time to vote.

OIT is re-starting a new voting system on AU Access at 1:30pm. The few votes cast before 1:30pm will be erased ensuring nobody votes twice."
