UPDATE: Arrest made in connection with shooting death of 24-year-old

The Auburn Police Division arrested a suspect in connection with a Thursday morning murder in north Auburn.

Derrick Antavis Oliver, a 26-year-old from Opelika, is in jail today after the APD arrested him in connection with the shooting death of Minney Lee, a 24-year-old from Auburn.

The Auburn Police Division has charged Oliver with murder. He was developed as a suspect after an investigation by the APD showed that he was in a dating relationship with Lee.

The shooting, which happened at about 4 a.m. Thursday morning, resulted from a fight between the two in the road in front of a residence in the 200 block of Lunsford Drive in northwestern Auburn. Lee was pronounced dead at the scene by Lee County Deputy Coroner Charlotte Patterson.

Detectives obtained warrants for Oliver's arrest Thursday afternoon, and he later surrendered himself to the APD and officials from the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.

Oliver is now at the Lee County Jail, being held on a $150,000 bond.
