No one was hurt in the plane crash off of Exit 60 of I-85 in Opelika.
There were three occupants in the Cessna Skylane aircraft when it crashed into the woods late Tuesday night. The passengers are from Athens, Georgia, and were on their way back home when they knew something was wrong. They did not wish to be identified.
The oil pressure began to drop and the engine locked up, said one of the plane passengers. Another passenger looked on at the wreckage and said he wondered how they were alive.
One of the passengers was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center for minor treatment. The other two were not.
Despite the crash, spirits were high as all of the passengers walked away from the plane.
Opelika Fire Chief Byron Prather said the Opelika Police Department is investigating the crash.
