Weddings Make Me Cry

This weekend will be awesome. I'm not going to the 'Roo like Allison, whose column is below, but I will be going to Montgomery.

I will be visiting the Capital City to visit one of my closest Auburn friends and her fiancee.

I've known Lauren for three years, since our days at the AU Bookstore my freshman year, and consider her one of my best friends. Josh isn't too bad either.

They'll be getting hitched next March. And this weekend is Lauren's first dress fitting.

I plan to bring a camera (I won't be uploading the pictures of the dress to Facebook for obvious reasons), lots of "aahhhs" and "oohhhs" and a box of tissues. I'm a crier and this weekend I'll be in top form.

To be honest I may start crying the minute we walk into the bridal salon and won't stop until Lauren takes off the dress or yells at me to stop, whichever comes first.

I've cried at every wedding I've been to since I was a kid and was in my aunt and uncle's wedding, although I cried at that wedding because the shoes weren't comfortable and I was 5 years old.

Something about them make my tearducts go haywire, and my heart sad. Or maybe happy. Or maybe both at the same time?

At the last wedding I attended, my friends all made fun of me for being the only one who misted up. The general agreement between them was that weddings were happy occassions, and I can concur. But aren't they also sad?

When entered into on honest terms and because of love a marriage marks the entering into a life with a person's partner. But that also means they are leaving behind part of the life they had before the wedding ceremony.

For this reason I am a little sad for everyone who gets married.

However for every sad tear I cry at weddings there are at least 10 happy ones.

I can't wait until Lauren's wedding and you bet I'll have my box of tissues with me then as well.
