For the first time in the history of the Bowl Championship Series poll, the Auburn Tigers have reached the poll's top position.

Reported live on ESPN at approximately 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Auburn leaped Oregon and Boise State to reach No. 1 in the BCS standings.

Auburn's 24-17 win over No. 6 LSU left them as the last remaining unbeaten team of the SEC.

Auburn is 8-0 overall and 5-0 against SEC opponents.

The last time Auburn was ranked this high was during the 2004 season, when the Tigers were ranked No. 3 for six weeks.

Auburn's season continues Saturday in Oxford, Miss., as the team takes on Ole Miss.

Kickoff will be at 5 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN 2.
