The Auburn Tigers improve to 6-0 for the first time since 2004 after senior kicker Wes Byrum kicked a game-winning, 24-yard field goal as time expired to give the Tigers a 37-34 win.

The field goal is Byrum's fifth game-winning field goal, tying him with former kicker John Vaughn with 50 career field goals.

Byrum only needs 21 points to pass Vaughn and become Auburn's all-time leading scorer.

"Obviously, it's hard to win on the road in this league, and this was a battle," said coach Gene Chizik. "We said at halftime this was going to come down to the end. We're finding different ways to win every week, and I couldn't be more proud of our team."

Junior quarterback cam newton completed two of three passes for 20 yards and rushed for 54 yards to lead Auburn down the field to set up the game-winning field goal.

The 19-play, 86-yard drive tied for the second longest drive by plays in Auburn history.

Newton tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns.

Newton finished the game with 198 rushing yards on 28 attempts and completed 13 of 21 passes for 210 yards.

"This guy is a worker," Chizik said. "He is a computer. When the game is on the line, he wants the ball in his hands, and that's what the quarterback position should do."

Kentucky opened the scoring after a seven-play, 49-yard drive that was capped off by a 2-yard Randall Cobb touchdown run.

Kentucky also scored the first points of the second half and eventually tied the game at 31 with 4:03 remaining in the third quarter on a 1-yard Cobb touchdown run.

"I think we started off fast and played well, but with a lead like that we have to do a better job of finishing," said senior safety Zac Etheridge.
