After a slow offensive game in the first half, Auburn trails Alabama 24-7 at halftime.

A 9-yard run from junior running back Mark Ingram gave Alabama a good start at the 11:34 mark.

Auburn struggled offensively, with multiple drives going 3 and out.

Alabama led the first quarter 21-0, with Auburn netting -8 yards offensively and Alabama netting 183 yards.

Auburn remained scoreless until five minutes left in the half when junior quarterback Cam Newton connected with Emory Blake on a 36-yard pass.

It was Blake's sixth touchdown of the season.

Alabama added a field goal with six and a half minutes left in the half to put the score at 24-7.

Newton was mostly held in check by Alabama's defense. Newton finished the half with 5 completions for 97 yards and one touchdown.

Alabama senior quarterback Greg McElroy completed 19 of 23 passes for 335 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 68-yard strike to junior wide receiver Julio Jones.

Jones ended the first half with 7 receptions for 174 yards and one touchdown.

Auburn's rushing attack was held to negative 10 yards on 17 attempts.
