The Lee County District Attorney's Office filed a motion Wednesday for a gag order in the case against Harvey Updyke.
Lee County Circuit Clerk Corinne Hurst said she is unsure when Judge Jacob A. Walker III will rule on the request, and there may have been other motions filed with the gag order request.
The O-A News reported Thursday that according to court documents, "the district attorney's office asked the Lee County Circuit Court to seal the records, restrict access to future court proceedings and prohibit the parties in the case … from speaking to the press and public."
The Auburn Plainsman was unable to reach District Attorney Nick Abbett for comment.
The case set off a firestorm after someone under the moniker "Al from Dadeville" admitted on Paul Finebaum's radio show that he poisoned the Toomer's oaks sometime after the 2010 Iron Bowl.

Updyke was arrested days later and has been indicted in the crime. He has maintained his innocence.
Updyke's arraignment is set for May 26.

The Auburn Plainsman will post more information as it is available.
