William Batchelor, dean of the College of Agriculture, was arrested this morning for driving under the influence.
Tommy Dawson, Auburn police chief, confirmed the arrest, but declined further comment.
According to an Opelika-Auburn News report, police said Batchelor was stopped on Moores Mill Road at 1:50 a.m.
Mike Clardy, director of University communications for the Office of Communications and Marketing, said he did not have any information regarding Batchelor's position as dean of the College of Agriculture.
An official statement from Clardy said, "It is Auburn University policy not to comment on personnel issues. It's also our policy and practice to cooperate fully with local officials and offer assistance to Auburn employees and students when they need it."
Representatives from the College of Agriculture's Office of Communications and Marketing declined comment, saying that it could not comment on issues regarding personnel within the college.
Bachelor's court date has been set for March 22.
