The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lee, Russell and Chambers Counties until 6:30 p.m.
A line of severe thunderstorms was spotted extending from five miles north of Auburn University to the Russell County Sports Complex.
The storms are thought to be capable of producing damaging winds up to 60 mph.
