Severe storm strikes down power lines along Interstate-85

Auburn police are responding to down trees and power lines along exit 57 on Interstate 85, according to Chief Meteorologist of WSFA 12 Montgomery Rich Thomas.

The National Weather Service issued a significant weather alert for Lee county until 7 p.m.

The Lee County Emergency Management Agency reported quarter size hail and 60 plus-mph winds moving west.

An areal flood warning has been issued for Lee County in addition to the severe thunderstorm warning previously issued.

Over two inches of rainfall have been reported according to Doppler radar estimates. This will cause flooding.
