Each August, the beckoning school year brings hordes of students back to the Plains, at once bogging down the roads, filling up restaurants, and swelling the crowds in stores around town. This year, one store is trying to offer a bit of relief to those with crowd fatigue.

Target will be offering exclusive shopping hours to Auburn freshmen after the store closes, aiming to ease the job of students and parents who are scrambling to get things together before classes begin.

Tuesday, August 14, the Opelika Target will be open from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and will also have a few extras for patrons who show up that night.

First, Target is offering transportation via bus from the University campus to the Enterprise Drive loaction in Opelika. Upon arrival there will be many special deals available for the freshmen as well as food and drinks and a DJ playing requests.

Also offered are prizes and games by Vitaminwater and C9 by Champion, dancing and photo opportunities with Bullseye, the Target mascot.

"New this year, Target is adding a fun social and digital feature with a QR code that students can scan with their smart phones called the Bullseye Badge," said spokesperson Heidi Murphy.

With the Bullseye Badge, students can interact with a variety of content before, during and after the event.

For example, before the event, students can access a map of their bus stop and a shopping list. During the event, students can tweet song requests to the DJ, receive special coupon codes and view the giveaway checklist. Post-event, students can upload images to Facebook from the event and receive mobile coupons.
