Despite months of treatments, rotting tree limbs from the Toomer's Oaks continue to pose a problem for Facilities employees.

Though the branches must be removed for the safety of passersby, concerns have arisen about the trees' new appearance.

In a written update, officials state that, though more pruning will likely be necessary, it will also leave the trees 'aesthetically dead,'

The Auburn Tree Preservation Committee is now assessing whether treatments should continue or if replacements should be arranged instead.

The trees will continue to be rolled for the fall, but celebrations may be disrupted temporarily if more pruning is needed.

If the trees remain structurally sound, they will be used for rolling even after they are considered dead, making it more likely the tradition will continue throughout the fall.
