Auburn athletics has confirmed that DeAngelo Benton, the football player accused of provoking Desmonte Leonard on the night of the Auburn shooting earlier this year and suspended from Auburn's team because of an undisclosed team rule, has had his suspension lifted.
Coach Chizik said after Wednesday's practice that Benton would return this weekend against ULM.
Social media sources were indicating that Benton had his suspension lifted prior to confirmation.
Phillip Marshall, senior editor at auburnundercover.com, directed readers to an Auburn Undercover message board around 8:50 p.m. today, where Chizik was quoted by Auburn Undercover staff member Bryan Matthews as saying Benton "will be dressed out and is available to play against ULM."
