Rita Chizik, mother of football coach Gene Chizik, passed away early this morning.
Reports were confirmed by Kirk Sampson, associate athletic director of communications for Auburn Athletics.
Sampson said no other details are available at this time.
Sampson also said the Chiziks appreciate the prayers and support that have been sent from the Auburn family and ask that everyone respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.
