Wayne Flynt, the well-known author of 11 books on Alabama, will speak at Auburn Tuesday, Nov. 27 on Alabama's role in the civil rights movement.

The civil rights movement in Alabama has been a trigger that has played a part in the Arab Spring as well as the movements in India and China, Flynt said.

"The movement is not dead. It is alive and well and has spread all over the world," Flynt said. "It is Alabama's great gift to the world."

Flynt said he is looking forward to speaking at Auburn and sharing information about Alabama's history.

"There are so many international students here and, curiously enough, they probably know the story better than American students," Flynt said.

The lecture will take place at 12:30 in Ballroom A of the Student Center. A free pizza lunch will be served for those who attend.
