Baseball loses to Troy 11-2

A five-run fifth inning and strong eighth inning by Troy resulted in Auburn baseball losing 11-2 Tuesday, March 26. The Tigers are now 15-11 on the season.

Troy broke the early 2-2 tie by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth with four runs being unearned and two off of errors. They took the lead 7-2.

Then Troy added another four runs in the bottom of the eighth with three of them unearned and the fourth off an error.

The Tigers struck first at Riddle-Pace field when Jordan Ebert hit his first homerun of the season over the center field wall in the first inning. Troy responded with a two-run second inning after Matthew Howard and Garrett Pitts both had RBI singles to take the lead 2-1.

Auburn tied the game in the third when Hunter Kelley scored on a sacrifice fly by Cullen Wacker. The. Troy's fifth inning put the game out of reach for the Tigers.

Auburn plays the first of a three game SEC series against Alabama at home Thursday, March 28.
