The old adage "gone, but never forgotten" is reversed in the case of the Desmonte Leonard hearing.
Leonard's hearing was set for Wednesday, March 20, at the Lee County Courthouse, but Leonard was mistakenly left in Montgomery County jail, according to AL.com.
He was never transferred the 50 miles to the Lee County Detention Facility on 1900 Frederick Rd. in Opelika.
Lee County Circuit Court Judge Jacob A. Walker III postponed the hearing until Thursday, May 16.
Leonard is accused of killing DeMario Pitts and former Auburn football players Ladarious Phillips and Ed Christian and shooting then-AU football player Eric Mack, former football players Xavier Moss and John Q. Robertson at a party at Auburn apartment complex University Heights on Longleaf Drive in June 2012.
