Softball falls short to No. 25 Georgia

No. 25 Georgia defeated the softball team after the Bulldogs hit a pair of solo home runs and shut the Tigers out 2-0 on Saturday, March 16. It was the second loss of the weekend by the Tigers to Georgia.

After retiring seven straight Georgia hitters, Marcy Harper allowed the first run of the day on a leadoff home run from Kaylee Puailoa in the top of the fifth. Puailoa would hit another home run over the center field wall in the seventh.

Harper took the loss in a complete-game effort allowing two runs, both earned, on six hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

"I'm proud of the way we came out today after last night's game," Auburn Head Coach Tina Deese said. "We had some chances, again, but just couldn't get a hit when we had runners on base. I'm proud of the way Marcy (Harper) pitched today; she kept it close and never let them get a big inning."

The win gave the Bulldogs a series win over the Tigers. Dropping them to a 20-9 overall and 2-0 in the SEC. They will finish the series with Georgia on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m.
