Softball team falls to Georgia

After a fast start by Georgia, the softball team lost the opening game of the conference series with the Bulldogs 9-3 Friday, March 15 at Jane B. Moore Field.
The Bulldogs took an early lead after Paige Wilson hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning, giving them a 2-0 lead.
Georgia's Tina Iosefa would hit another two-run home run in the third inning to extend Georgia's lead to 4-0. Christina Olney then followed with a single that brought in the fifth run of the day for Georgia.
Auburn would then mount a two-run rally in the bottom of the third, but Geri Ann Glasko ended the inning when Tiffany Howard chopped out to second.
McKenzie Kilpatrick would score the third run of the day for the Tigers in the fourth inning after Morgan Estelle hit a double to the right-center gap to make it a 5-3 game.
The Bulldogs would make things tougher in the sixth after they added three runs, making it a 9-3 game. Auburn would continue to fight and load the bases in the seventh, but Glasko would hold the Tigers and not allow a run to cross the plate.
"You're not going to win many games making six errors and leaving 10 runners on base," said Head Coach Tina Deese. "We were able to fight back a little, but the game got away from us. We're going to have to regroup and get ourselves ready to play tomorrow."
Auburn will continue its series with Georgia on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 1 p.m.
