The Auburn baseball team tried to bounce back against the No. 2 Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday, March 16 at Plainsman Park.

The Tigers had their seven-game winning streak snapped after a 5-2 loss in their first game of SEC play on Friday night.

Unfortunately, Saturday was much of the same. The Auburn bats could not get going, and Vanderbilt defeated the Tigers 8-1.

Neither team got on the board until the top of the fifth inning when Commodore Rhett Wiseman drove in the game's first run on a RBI-triple.

For the second straight game, the Vanderbilt starting pitcher took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning. Starting pitcher Tyler Beede (5-0) threw 6.2 scoreless innings, ultimately allowing only two hits, but walking six.

Auburn pitcher Michael O'Neal (4-1) threw a respectable game, going six innings and allowing three runs on three hits, but didn't get any offensive support.

The Tigers only run of the game came on a bases loaded walk to Damek Tomscha in the eighth.

Just like that, Auburn has fallen to 13-5 (0-2 SEC) and will take on the Commodores in the third, and final, game of the series Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m.
