The women’s basketball team has been selected to the WNIT after a 16-14 season and will play host to UAB (18-12) Wednesday, March 20 in the Auburn Arena.
It is Auburn’s fourth appearance in the WNIT and the Tigers’ 22nd postseason appearance.
“It is exciting to be able to open the WNIT at Auburn Arena because it is a place we have had so much success this year,” said coach Terri Williams-Flournoy. “We have had great fan support all year long and that played a big part in our 12-3 record at home. We need our fans to get their tickets and come back out because we need an electric atmosphere for some postseason play in Auburn Arena.”
The Tigers have taken trips to the WNIT in 2003, 2007 and 2011, and hold a 8-2 record combined with a tournament victory in 2003.
“We are really looking forward to playing in the WNIT,” said Williams-Flournoy. "Making the postseason in our first season here at Auburn was a goal of ours and this will be a great experience for our players as we continue to build this program back to where it should be.”
