Women's golf ties for 10th in SEC Championship

On the final day of the women's golf SEC championships at Greystone Golf and Country Club's Legend course in Hoover, Ala. Victoria Trapani carded a 4-over 76 finishing the tournament in a tie for sixth.

"I'm exceptionally proud of Victoria and the way she played all week long," Head Coach Kim Evans said. "This was a tough golf course and she did a great job leading us."

As a team Auburn finished tied for 10th place with a 933.

After starting the tournament on Friday in 14th place the Tigers had a big deficit, and it proved to be too much for the team to overcome the rough start.

"I am really proud of the team for the way they fought through and finished this tournament," Head Coach Kim Evans said. "We had a tough first round that really set us back. Outside of that first round, we were right there with the top of the field, but we put ourselves in too deep of a hole that first day."

Carlie Yadioczky finished tied for 37th, Diana Fernandez tied for 43rd, Marta Sanz tied for 52nd and Jamie Yun finished in 66th.

Alabama won the SEC title with a 33-over 899 followed by Georgia in second.

Auburn will host the NCAA East Regional Championship beginning May 9 at the Auburn University Club.
