A spirit that is not afraid

Who let the dogs out? The FBI did.

Who let the dogs out? The FBI did.
Multiple warrants were served in Waverly, Marvyn and south Opelika Friday, Aug. 23, resulting in the seizure of dogs and arrest of members of a dog fighting ring.
"Today's actions were a result of a multi-year, multi-state investigation lead by the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service," said Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.
The FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Lee County Sheriff's office were joined by the Auburn Police Division, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and The Humane Society of the United States donated resources.
"This is an entire criminal enterprise," Jones said.
The animal rescue numbers were significant and veterinarians were on site for immediate care.
More information will follow after a press conference conducted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Alabama Monday, Aug. 26.
