Update, March 11, 10:46 p.m.:
Auburn Police Chief Paul Register said the assault has not been reported to the Auburn Police Division.
“We’ve not had any sexual assault reported to us by any victim,” Register said. “We’ve not gotten any name of any victim and there’s been no suspect named in the situation.”
The report may have been given to the University by a third party, according to Register.
“It doesn’t have to be through the University,” Register said. “It could’ve come from an advocacy group that reports these things to the University.”
Register said the Auburn Police Division will investigate the situation if the victim comes forward.
“It would be up to the victim to decide if she wants to prosecute or not,” Register said.
