The sixth-ranked Auburn men’s golf team tied for fourth at 7-under at the SEC Championship at Sea Island Golf Club on Sunday, April 19.
Freshman Ben Schlottman finished runner-up at 8-under, the best in program history by a freshman.
No. 9 LSU won the title at 13-under, followed by No. 4 Vanderbilt and No. 8 South Carolina at 10-under apiece.
Schlottman finished the regular season fourth in the SEC in stroke average at 69.66 and had four top-five finishes in six tournaments.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Benton tied for sixth at 4-under, his best career finish in a team tournament.
Senior Dan Stringfellow tied for 27th at 2-over, and sophomore Matt Gilchrest and junior Michael Johnson finished tied for 47th at 7-over apiece.
The Tigers’ next competition will be at the NCAA Regional from May 14-16 at one of the following sites: Bremerton, Washington; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Lubbock, Texas; New Haven, Connecticut; Noblesville, Indiana; or San Diego.
The regional sites will be announced live on The Golf Channel on May 4 during Morning Drive.
