After what went down in history as the best season yet for the Tigers, Auburn softball is ready to take it to the next level this fall.
It was recently announced that Clint Myers agreed to a five-year, $203,000 contract extension, looking to one day retire in the town where he made his mark. Myers and his staff were also named the best in the Southeast by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
With the talent of the staff behind the scenes and the return of a team filled of strong players, the Tigers gear up for their first game against North Georgia on Sunday, Oct. 11.
When the Tigers returned to the Plains after ending their string of wins at the Women's College World Series, Myers made a point to say that the team "will be back."
"I’d like to say how very proud I am to be the coach at Auburn University,” Myers said. “These kids were picked to finish eighth in our conference, and yet they were one of four remaining teams in the College World Series ... It was a lot of fun, and we will be back.”
At the conclusion of the 2014 season, the Tigers lost three heavy contributions to the team's success in center fielder Morgan Estell and right fielder Branndi Melero.
