Haven Hart has recently been named assistant vice president for student development.
Hart said she was born and raised in South Carolina which is also where she started her career path.
She did her undergraduate and master’s degree at Clemson University in South Carolina and after she finished, her first job was at the University of Alabama. She then went on to work at Converse College, a women’s college in South Carolina and then moved on to Coastal Carolina University which is also in South Carolina.
“I’ve worked at large, small and medium sized institutions and I feel like I’m ending up my career hopefully that’s similar to where I started,” Hart said.
According to Hart she has worked in Auburn since 2012 and before that she worked in higher education all of her career, most recently at Coastal Carolina University where she was vice president of student affairs.
She and her family moved back to Auburn and she knew being back in student affairs is where she wanted to be, but she had a couple of stops along the way.
She worked in the career center when she first arrived and in student conduct.
When this job was open, she felt like she was getting back into the administration of student affairs and it was an area she is familiar with.
Hart said as assistant vice president her goals center around student success.
The area she works with is student development and she wants to make sure students have the resources they need to be successful, she also wants to make sure they have the support they need to make good decisions.
She said she her goal would be that the students are successful through the programs that they offer.
“I am thrilled and honored for this opportunity because Auburn students are highly motivated, they want to do well. I think we have so many great resources on this campus to provide to students, sometimes they don’t know how to access them.”
“So I’m excited about this opportunity because I want to see what we can do to connect with Auburn students in different ways and to provide that support to them in ways that we haven’t done before. And serve them because let’s face it often times they come to us because they want to get involved and we want to make sure we are serving them and giving them the tools they need to be successful student leaders. So I’m excited about any role I can play in that,” said Hart.
Hart said that she wanted to work at Auburn it has always been her goal to return to Auburn and that this institution is one that she feels passionate about. She believes in the mission of the university and the students they serve. She said that Auburn is a great institution with so many initiatives and a passionate and caring student body.
