Former Auburn golfer named Web.com Tour Player of the Year

While the Auburn men's golf team has risen to number one in the rankings for the first time in school history, alumni of the golf program are having success on the professional level.

Patton Kizzire, who played for the Tigers from 2005-08, was named the Web.com Tour Player of the Year on Thursday. The award is voted on by other Web.com Tour players.

"I am honored to be voted Player of the Year by my fellow players," Kizzire said in a Web.com Tour press release. “I enjoyed playing the Web.com Tour immensely this year and made many friendships I will carry long into the future."

Kizzire recorded two wins on the season, both in August. He totaled 12 top-10 finishes, the most since Stewart Cink had 14 in 1996.

The Tuscaloosa native was over par in only 12 of his 81 rounds this year, and he finished first on the tour in scoring average, putting average and birdie average.

Kizzire earned $567,866 in 2015, placing him at the top of the tour's money list and earning him a PGA Tour card for the 2015-16 season.
