$403,000 raised during first-ever Tiger Giving Day

Auburn University donors contributed more than $403,000 during the University’s first-ever Tiger Giving Day, according to a press release from the University.

Of the 24 projects included in the campaign, 17 met their goals.

“Members of the Auburn Family made a big statement on Tiger Giving Day,” said Auburn President Jay Gogue in the press release. “In addition to supporting projects important to the life of Auburn, they stepped forward to help drive up Auburn’s national rankings that use alumni participation as an indicator of a university’s health and vitality."

The campaign was originally set to begin at midnight Tuesday, Dec. 1 and end at midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 2, according to its slogan "24 hours. 20+ projects. One big family."

The projects were kept open, however, until noon Thursday, Dec. 3.

The University extended the deadline because interest was still going strong, according to Ryan King, digital philanthropy strategist for the Office of Communications and Marketing. The deadline extension would help more projects reach their goals, King said in an email.
