Auburn University license plates are now available for motorcycles as well as cars, according to the Office of Communications & Marketing.
Both tags cost $55 in addition to the normal tag cost of $24.25, if purchasing for the first time. Tag renewals for subsequent years of the same design and characters will be $50 in addition to the normal tag cost.
Proceeds for the sale of tags in Alabama go to the "License to Learn" Scholarship Endowment Fund, a statewide program that raises funds for freshman scholarships. The program has raised more than $38 million since it was introduced in 1988.
The plates can be purchased at local county license offices with the choice of a six-character tag or a personalized tag. Auburn tags are also available in Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland and Texas. Tag sales from North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas also benefit scholarships.
