Female university presidents to speak about their journeys to the top

"University Presidents Speak," a two-part presentation from four female presidents, will be presented by the Auburn University Outreach/ Tuskegee Auburn Women's Leadership Alliance Symposium on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The members of the presidential panel are Gwendolyn E. Boyd, president of Alabama State University; Sharon Gabor, president of University of Toledo; Mary Ellen Mazey, president of Bowling Green State University; and Molly Easo Smith, former president and provost of Saint Martin's University.

These presidents will share their stories and experiences of challenges and obstacles they faced on their journeys to the top.

The event will run from 2-5 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center, starting with the presidential panel from 2-3:15 p.m. in Ballroom B and a networking reception to continue talking about diversity, inclusion in the administrations of universities and engagement from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Terrace Room.

Both parts are open and free to students, faculty, staff and the community. This event is also sponsored by the Women’s Initiatives, Women’s Leadership Institute, Women’s Studies and the Department of English.

This event is followed by the Extraordinary Women Lecture featuring Mae Jemison on Feb. 17, which will be held in the hotel's grand ballroom at 4 p.m. Although registration is not required, the co-sponsors strongly encourage those who would like to participate in the concurrent sessions from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to register online.
