After four seasons as an assistant at Wake Forest, Clarisse Garcia has joined the Auburn women's basketball team as an assistant coach.
Garcia will handle recruiting along with yet-to-be-specified other duties.
“We’re really excited to have Clarisse join our staff,” said Auburn women's basketball coach Terri Williams-Flournoy. “She brings so much knowledge, not just from a basketball standpoint, but also as a great recruiter who is going to help us continue bring in the best student-athletes for our program. I’ve seen her on the road. When you’re in the gym, they’re in the gym, you kind of notice the people that are working just as hard as you. She’s always been a class act, she carries herself extremely well, and everybody’s got great things to say about her.”
Before her four years at Wake Forest, Garcia spent a year as an assistant at Alabama, where she worked with current Auburn assistant Ty Evans. While there, she was responsible for recruiting, player development, elite camp and scouting.
“I am privileged and grateful to be back in the SEC,” Garcia said. “Coach Flo has a lofty vision, and I am excited to partner with her at the Auburn women’s basketball program to continue the momentum of success here on The Plains. It will be wonderful to be here to begin this new journey, and I am humbled to feel to instantly welcomed and embraced by this great Auburn Family!”
Garcia began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Seton Hill University before taking the head coaching job at Division II Palm Beach Atlantic, where she coached the Sailfish to an Independent Invitational Classic Tournament Championship.
She played at Villanova from 2003-07, where she was named a captain her senior year.
