The stage is set in Jordan-Hare Stadium for Music and Miracles Superfest.
Kenny Chesney will kick off his "Spread the Love" tour at the Chicken Salad Chick Foundation's first fundraising concert tomorrow, April 23. Miranda Lambert, Old Dominion and Sam Hunt are also scheduled to perform.
Chicken Salad Chick co-founder Kevin Brown came up with idea after he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2013. Funds from the concert will go toward cancer research and food insecurity.
Brown died in November.
"If he were here, he'd be working," said Chicken Salad Chick Foundation Director Barclay Smith. "He was a hardworking, determined individual. But as soon as the music started, he would be having a party. I can just see the smile on his face."
Alcohol will be sold in the stadium, Smith said. Alcohol is usually forbidden inside the stadium, regardless of age or seat section, according to the Athletic Event Alcohol Policy section of the student handbook.
Todd Stewart, tour chairman, said he doesn't expect problems.
"We've done more than 100 shows where alcohol was served and it's never been a big issue," Stewart said. "There are some people who instead of seeing the show, will want to be the show. Generally we try to use people they're with to calm them down or give them water before anyone gets ejected."
A crowd of around 55,000 is expected.
Traffic will be rerouted and some parking lots will be closed. The event will be organized similar to football games, Smith said.
“The same roads will be barricaded so for Auburn fans it will be a very similar setup,” Smith said.
