Report: former Texas Tech quarterback to visit Auburn

Former Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb will visit Auburn soon, per a report by ESPN.

Webb played for the Red Raiders from 2013-15 but announced his decision to transfer after losing the starting job to Patrick Mahomes. He gave a verbal commitment to Colorado in January, but is still visiting other schools, including a recent trip to Cal.

Since he is a graduate transfer, Webb would be eligible to play immediately.

If Webb were to join the Tigers, he would be thrust into the thick of an already muddled quarterback competition, as Jeremy Johnson, Sean White and John Franklin III are all vying for the starting spot.

The three failed to separate themselves at A-Day, but coach Gus Malzahn reiterated that the coaching staff didn't put much stock into their performances, given that each quarterback rotated between the first and second teams.
